Definition of Adjective



Please focus on these words”!!
adjectives are describing words. They are either before or after a noun (or a pronoun) to modify its meaning.
Examples:
- A large bass: =è            large is an adjective, and the described word is “bass”.
- the moon is bright tonight.=è       bright is an adjective, and the described word is “moon”.
(NOTE: an adjective that appears after the noun ( or pronoun) it is  modifying is called a predicted adjective.)

In addition to descriptive word ( e.g., pretty, blue classic, tired),here are several other kinds of adjectives, including:

  • . Articles (e.g., an, a, the)
  • . compound adjectives( e, g., four-seater, 10-page)
  • . comparatives (e.g., stickier, taller, less cultivated)
  • . demonstrative adjectives (e.g., that, these)
  • . indefinite adjectives (e.g., some, few)
  • . Possessive adjectives(e.g.,  my, their, her, its, )
